M&M Auction’s May 30th and 31st specialist toy, games and model sale delivered an exceptional variety of vintage and modern era collectable toys for enthusiasts around the World. Continuing the trend of surprise finds during attic clear-outs, a wonderful group of pre-war Dinky 28 Series Type 1 delivery vans were found, previously untouched for decades and given to M&M Auctions (Becoming one of Europe’s leading dedicated and specialist collectable toy auctioneers) to sell in their May event. The delivery vans produced in the 1930’s as toys, were used to advertise well-known brands comprising Crawfords Biscuits, Marsh’s Sausages, Hornby Trains, Manchester Guardian, Meccano and Oxo. The star lot was the Oxo issue van selling for over £3000 with buyer’s premium. Collectively with buyer’s premium, the 8 vans sold for over £10,000. M&M also report that the lucky vendor aforementioned for the delivery vans sold in May has also recently since discovered two beautiful and complete 28/1 and 28/2 trade boxes of Dinky type 2 delivery vans which are scheduled to be consigned into the next sale. Pre-Sale estimates are thought to be set between £4000 to £7000 each.
The May auction comprised of over 1400 lots over two days of specialist toys, games and models including 100’s of tractors, trucks, cars, planes, trains and other collectable items from the past 100 years. Other highlights included a fine collection of vintage issue Meccano including a number of early issue sets, collectively selling for £5000.
The next two day sale is scheduled to take place at M&M’s Plover court premises in August 2019 to which entries are now being invited.
