The Jim Hood Model Truck Collection

We were approached by a friend of the family at a show we attended and was given some general information about the collection. Due to its size, an on-site valuation was required. We liaised with Jim’s family and arranged a visit travelling the 6 hours from Spalding to Scotland. After going through the process with Jim’s family, we provided a general valuation of the collection. It was agreed that half the collection would be taken back to our warehouse that day and the rest collected at a later date since it would require two van loads to deal with the huge size of the collection. We supplied our own boxes, tape and bubble wrap to ensure the models arrived back in the warehouse in the condition they left Jim’s home. It was discussed with Jim’s family that it would likely take several sales to sell the entire consignment, taking our time to ensure the best prices were realised. We started cataloging Jim’s wonderful collection in our June 2018 sale and are now about to enter our fourth sale with Jim’s models in December. Jim’s collection is an eclectic mix of old and new models with early Dinky right through to modern Corgi commercial diecast. Over one thousand pieces. Stay tuned throughout 2019 where Jim’s collection will continue to feature in our auctions.

The North East Fine and Rare Diecast Collection

After being approached by a client at a local exhibition, we were advised of a collection of diecast from Dinky and Corgi, plus other makers that had been left by a relative. Sitting for years in a loft, the client decided now might be the time to sell. After a brief discussion, we agreed to visit the client and provide an on-site valuation in lieu of taking the collection back with us to consign for our next available auction. With an amazing selection of early and fine toys plus many other sought after items, we agreed with the client, a guide as to what to expect at auction, selling with us. Happy with our advice and terms of service, we returned with the collection, carefully cataloging each item for auction in June 2018. Our pre-sale estimate of £12,000 was surpassed by an amazing £18,000 in hammer value for the items consigned. The client was paid out within a month and very pleased with the ‘finds’ within their attic!
