The Frank Beattie Dinky Collection

This June will see the exceptional Frank Beattie Dinky Toy Collection going under the hammer. We are proud and privileged to be handling the collection on behalf of Frank’s family and look forward to sharing its marvelous contents with enthusiasts and collector’s from around the World.

Frank was a Warrant Officer in the Royal Air Force, he was in charge of a busy Mechanical Transport Squadron responsible for every type of vehicle large and small, from small cars to the largest heavy transport and specialist vehicles particular to the military.

Whist carrying out his duties, his hobbies have included vehicles. He has restored many cars including vintage, his pride and joy was a Jaguar XK120 to which he fully restored from a barn find to a concourse fine example. This love of vehicles also led Frank into the collectors’ world of Dinky Toys and his collection began.

When he retired from the RAF his Dinky Toy collection became his main hobby, it gathered pace and soon became a substantial collection. He attended toys fairs almost every weekend buying and selling Dinky Toys, something he looked forward to every week. He put his car restoration skills into good use by repairing and restoring Dinky’s to original condition, he also did this for his fellow enthusiasts helping them with any work or spare parts to restore their own collection items. His spare room at home, his ‘Den’ , contained his entire collection where he spent a great deal of time, and woe betide anyone that entered and even thought of touching one of his treasured dinky’s!

Frank enjoyed attending the many M&M Auctions sometimes to sell some of his collection or to buy Dinky’s he had been searching for, or to simply enjoy the atmosphere.

Sadly Frank passed away during Christmas last year, it was his wishes that his collection be auctioned here at M&M Auctions and the proceeds from this auction shared between his three daughters. Many of these Toys will have passed though previous auctions here before and may be familiar to many collectors.
