Brexit FAQs

How has Brexit affected business with M&M Auctions if I live in the EU?

Brexit has resulted in significant changes to how business is now conducted between the UK and EU Countries. Fundamentally however, we are able to still offer our auctions to all customers throughout the EU and the rest of the World.

Will auction fees change if I live in the EU?

Yes. If you are in the EU, our auction fees will now change and apply as follows:

- There is no VAT within the transaction so as an example, if you purchase an item for a hammer price of £100, the fee payable will be our buyer’s premium of 20%. VAT will not apply on the premium. If you bid through our website, there will be no other fees to pay. There is also no VAT on any postage charged.

Example.

Joe Bloggs lives in the Republic of Ireland. He bids through our own bidding platform and purchases a model car for £100 hammer price. Postage on this lot for Joe is £15.00

Hammer price £100 + Buyer’s Premium @ 20% (£20) + Postage = £135

Joe may then have to pay import VAT at the border plus a clearance fee. However we are aware this does not always apply.

How much extra will I Pay?

Depending on your local custom clearance officials, there may be no additional charges to pay however where custom VAT does apply, we have worked out that if bidding through our own platform, you should allow an extra 10% of the hammer price. The absence of VAT and internet bidding fees will provide a saving. If you are VAT registered, you may be able to reclaim the Import VAT.

Will anything change for me in Northern Ireland

There are no changes to customers buying from us in Northern Ireland.

What about delivery delays?

We are aware of delays in shipping to customers in the EU. Whilst backlogs are now easing, you should expect delivery to take longer now to account for the time it will take your package to clear customs in the UK and the EU destination country.
